Man...had an amazing afternoon cranking my '66 Vibrolux today.
I wanted to give it one last good play before I traded it off,
so I warmed it up today and broke out a few guitars.
I don't think I'd ever tried it with my SG Standard before, and DAMN!
Guess I'm going to find another way to buy that Flying V now.
NO WAY am I trading this amp. It's too sweet!
So which of you dudes are playing blackface or silverface Fenders? Let's hear some love!

Twin reverb RI for me.
I do like it quite a bit. Altough sometimes when it gets loud the thing kind of "woofs out"

I wonder if you could put different speakers in it to prevent this? some stupid JBLs or EVs or something. No farting ever.
Of course, it would then weigh 200 lbs, but you gotta pay to play.

Vibroluxes are some of the sweetest of the blackface and silverface Fenders to crank. Published rig for Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo) has him using one with a Super Reverb -- my guess is the Super is for cleans and the Vibrolux for dirty.

I have a '68 silverface Pro Reverb that I blackfaced. I hear its virtually a Vibrolux with 2x12. I put a Weber Blue Dog & Silver Bell in. Sounds pretty good, but I kinda wish I had gotten some more traditional "Fender-sounding" speakers. I'm trying to like this amp more than I do. It's a fabulous amp... I'm just really hard to please, and I've been craving a Vox. And Super Reverb.

Exactly!
I run a Carr Slant head thru an Emperor on a fairly regular basis, good shit!
