Waaaay cool! The AB-Synth can produce some ballsy wicked bass fuzz. That a Precision you're using?

No, it was an Elrick Gold 4 string in passive mode. Bartolini soapbars.

Great, thorough bass demo for the AB-Synth!

I stopped using my AB synth (w/voice switch) for bass 'cause I thought it was too over the top for cover tunes. Been cranking it with my early 70's Sound City 120 lead on guitar instead. But after hearing the first 2 minutes of that demo I'm rethinking that choice. Very brassmaster sounding. A B's can get out of hand quickly, but right before that happens they capture that great ballsy Geezer sound. My pedal has only 4 knob. What is that lower middle knob do? great demo!

The extra knobs are gain, and instead of a voicing toggle, there is a blend type pot, I believe.

went back and spent some time with my AB and my passive J bass and it sounds nothing like that demo! Its all or nothing! as much as i tried I could not get any slight overdrive like the first minute of the demo. Just crazy over the top fuzzy madness. that gain knob makes all the difference (mine does not have one). I like the crazy fuzz thing but, on bass you cant use it all the time unless you scale it back some. On my AB there is no way to do that. bummer! it has the bass voice switch. I dont know what else to try? I just might keep it on my guitar board even though I did buy it for bass. the black cat is too pricey $225. looking back now "would of could of"

I have a video demo of the black cat - it's an awesome pedal but it sounds nothing like the ABsynth. Just keep that in mind. It won't sputter, spit, splat, no matter how you set it.
With that being said, yes - the black cat is much more useable in a real world setting. The ABsynth is great, but it takes a LOT of time and patience to learn how to control it and do what you want it to do.

I hear what your saying but.......my AB does not sound anything like yours is my point. you have control of yours. there is no controling mine at all. its either out of hand or crazy out of hand. I dont hear that in the first 2 minutes of your demo. WHY???!!!???

Hmmm, I'm trying to figure it out. Your bass is passive correct? That matters MOST importantly. Active basses will give you crap. Try rolling back your volume on the bass. That's how I got a lot of the pedal under control. Other than that, I'm not sure I know what else to suggest? You're saying all you get is uncontrollable madness? Like one big mess of a sound?

Do you have a bass with soapbar humbuckers (passive) that you can try?

BLoody nice vid. Good to hear it sounding so diverse on bass too. Extreme motorboating buzzing for sure. Is the fifth knob not a blend-knob? Or do you find it does not really need one, too be sutible for bass-frequencies? Been eyeing one for a while. Could verywell be my choice for some xtreme fuzziness...

Believe his has a gain control. I have both versions. Gain knob is a must for bass.
