Quick craigslist related question

I don't know if this belongs in here or b/s/t (and mods feel free to move it) but I have a 78' Fender fretless P-bass (all original except it has been refinished) I'm trying to sell. And someone has offered me a Fender 70's era Frankenstein fretted P-bass + cash. Does it sound like a good deal? I can post photos of both basses if that would help.

Trading a P bass for a P bass? What are you trying to accomplish? Do you just want a fretted bass, or something?

I actually just want cash. My dog has benign grapefruit sized tumor under his front leg and it is getting bigger. I haven't had any other offers but I don't want to get screwed either.
Mine

Possible trade

I would pass. Especially if the electronics, pickup and pickguard are not original to that bass.
His neck looks to be a 70-74, but the body looks to be something entirely different.
Yours is nice man and depending on the refin work (trans blonde?), it should fetch 1500 easily..
His might not go for more than 900, if that.
Mojo sent for your doggie.

Ahh, you got to do what you have to. That frankenbass looks A-OK to me. But, I really don't know the value of such things.

Mine is a natural finish (I think they were looking to copy Sting's bass). I wasn't the one to refinish it the previous owner did. It was originally an off white.

Thank You.
maz91379 wrote:You would probably get a better offer listing it in a local newspaper or trying to pawn it off at guitar center than craigslist which is literally where you go to buy shit for way lower than fair market value. I've heard bad things about ebay for sellers/ ebay taking their cut but it might be the way to go perhaps.
I think GC takes like 40% but I might put it on consignment at one of the vintage shops up in Austin they told me they would only take 20-25% but it might take 6 months to sell. But I think I'll try the paper first.

Don't give it to a place like GC, you'll just be throwing away money. I would definitely try ebay over craigslist, at least.

Might try the TalkBass classifieds, it'd cost you the yearly membership fee, but you wouldn't lose the chunk eBay takes, just the 3% for Paypal. People don't often get screwed there as far as I can tell, and they love all things vintage and Fender.
