Syncing the loop on the M9?

hurm. i'm getting a LITTLE better at keeping my loops on time, but when i'm looping over a drum machine or soft synth or DAW loop i dunno if i'll ever be able to get EXACTLY at 142.7 bpm to make sure it doesn't stray over a 2 or 3 minute period even a little. can't really have the DAW adjust to the loop.

or CAN you? is there a way to midi sync a tempo so that the looper triggers at the start of each measure? or sumphin' like that?

................ or just Practice More You Lazy Git?

i'm using an M9 right now.

thanksorz!

yea its pretty hard to loop against a drum machine or any type of sequencer.
a quick glance at the m9 manual, doesn't look like it respond to midi clock so u can't sync them that way. :(

it looks like u can trigger "play" of the loop using a midi CC (#28), so it seems u might be able to set the tempo of the looper and DAW the same and send that midi CC from your DAW to the M9 at the beginning of your loop. so each time it loops back it retriggers on the 1.
theoretically it should play back in time if u do it this way, but you'd probably have to test it out to make sure.

one of the main reasons i got the EHX 2880 for looping was the midi sync.

hope this helps!

yah. my looping needs are minimal right now. if i ever got heavy into it i'd probably look at a Big Daddy Boomerang. but it covers the little bit of delay i want and some wacky combo's of stuff...... with SAVE SPOTS. so..... yeah. think i'm holding on to it for awhiles.

Live drummers are the best midi sync.

all they do is drink all of my mountain dew and play dungeons and dragons in the practice space with people i've never seen before who make ogre noises, while also drinking my mountain dew.

SO MANY MOUNTAIN DEWS WERE LOST. SO MANY.

my brother in law doesn't like American soda's that much, loves Mountain Dew. his English is.... not....... stellar. so he Japanafies it when he asks if i can pick up some "Yama Dew" if he's coming out.

.......... yama means mountain in Japanese. i'm pedantic as FUCK.

Just loop the drum machine.

Yeah it's not easy to do. I wish there was a single button you could press to start the loop over. Having the same footswitch as both start and stop makes starting loops over in time nearly impossible. I would be interested if anyone finds any (cheap) midi clock options...

hurm. you mean play the drum loop into the looper as the first loop, loop it, then layer over the time that's set by doing that? interesting. sorta anathema to how i like my setup. but interesting.

i thinnnnnk.... it'd eat up too much of the loop memory too. and i usually loop and then play over patterns that change.

cool idea though. thanks!
