to be fair, no, You are not doing it wrong in any way- so relax - but I'm supposing not too many have even heard of the Fuzz Nutz or Austone.

No idea, and the guy that makes em is dead

There's very little info out there on them. I'm going to go ask at one of the local shops that sold them back in the day, maybe they can tell me some tales.
