I've worked on a lot of Vintage SVT amps. But I've been pretty impressed with the new Ampeg SVT-VR amps lately. It seems Ampeg is really trying to do something. I'm not selling my vintage Ampeg B15S or Traynor Custom Special anytime soon. But what does everyone else think of the SVT-VR versus the Vintage SVT?

I have no experience with vintage svts but I love my vr. First time I played it I knew I wanted to buy it within five minutes. I like the non master volume.louder you turn it the more rude it sounds. It's louder than the svt cl. The knobs and switches keep it simple while you can dial in any sound you're looking for. I've the vintage ones have more midrangebut that could probably be fixed but turn the dials properly. For the price and costs of fixing vintage I thi nk the vr wins in value.only thing caveat emptor sucker weighs 85 lbs.
