I have been to the O.

And that shit was amazing. 260 miles one way. Totally worth it. I realize everyone who'se ever talked about Oneida inevitably says, "dude, you gotta see 'em live."

They're right. They're all right.

On top of that, they happened to be playing one of my most favorite venues in the world, on the birthday of the dude who founded it (it's an art gallery with an absolutely nasty P.A.). There was cake. There was a pinata halfway through their set, which ran something like this:
Sheets of Easter
The River
Up With People
*Half-Time Pinata striking*
Some jam I'm not sure of
Sneak into the woods (?)
Wicked Servant

They played wicked fucking servant. That's like them trying to be Black Sabbath. Such a boner.

One of their guitarists (a touring guy, I think) had a harmonic percolator, and some kind of mxr-sized three knob one toggle reverb. And a DL4. And a volume pedal.

The other dude (the guy who's been in the band foreverz) was running Rat>Crybaby>Tuner.

Oneida rules.

They're maybe my favorite active live outfit.
