TL;DR: dude figured out an alternate tracklist for TOOL's "Lateralus."

06 Parabol
07 Parabola
05 Schism
08 Ticks and Leeches
04 Mantra
09 Lateralus
13 Faaip De Oiad
01 The Grudge
12 Triad
02 Eon Blue Apocalypse
11 Reflection
03 The Patient
10 Disposition

Like most of the responses in the OP, I was initially really skeptical, but I've been running this list (on The Grudge as I type this) and so far I'm a believer. If this is a coincidence, it's a really fucking incredible one. I highly recommend you do as the OP says and edit the tracks to cut the excess silence.

Oh man, you didn't hear about this, like, ten years ago?

Look, I love Tool, but this is stupid. It's really easy to create alternate track orders that "flow" to the golden ratio or whatever when every goddamn song you write is in D minor.

It was done on purpose. Listen to the song lateralus. It's rhythm is the Fibonacci sequence/golden ratio. There's even a video to help understand it...

I have a fibonacci sequence tattoo that's unfinished

I like changing around track listings for albums as much as the next guy, but I just can't buy any track listing that separates Disposition, Reflection and Triad. And the ending of Disposition flows so seamlessly into Reflection. I mean, that was originally written as one long song. Splitting it up just seems really wrong.

Guys with megainterest in ceremonial magick and the occult, using numbers in a hidden manner that's school-boy appropriate.

Never happen.

Move along.

I can say that it is the most intellectual, inspirational, and awe-inspiring material that I have ever been exposed to.
This says more about the guy writing than anything else

...I once put some effort to the supposed 'hidden' meaning of this album. Purely out of lazy curiosity and mutual interests with Carey. And, to be honest, I was planning a such album back then myself.

Like with many so called occult rock albums or such intellectual pastime puzzles, it's best understood as an occultist practice or an alchemical process of sort, where information of subjects A, B, and C is reassembled into C, B and not-A so it producing new ideas and questions, and perhaps to a new viewpoint. Revelation, if You like.

Thus, obviously, the value of such revelations is anyway highest to those who put the most effort in it, and the least to those who have little or no interest at all in the mentioned occult subjects.

So out side of the fan club guys interested in occult field day studies... it's much ado about nothing to large audience, and to the occult society it teaches hardly anything new. Pretty cool still, a treat to the fan club and it was a fun pastime for me, too. :idk: :whateva:

duesn't 9 plus 7 plus 8 just add up to like 24?

anyways, you gotta be a fucking moron to find emotion in numbers. if tool fans want to stop at "OMG THIS WUN SONG THAT AS THE NUMBERZ" for music that involves complex sequencies of numbers and patterns, thats fucking dumb because there are a fuckton of composers who have worked with these ideas and have done better shit with it than some lame-ass disturbed shit in weird time.

seriously. listen to this song, and then listen to like Godsmack or Disturbed and this stuff is the same damn shit.

They found a good market, nobody had ripped off Crowley that much in mainstream music in ages, pile in some Krautrock and recycle metal, and presto, chango, cash.

Was a good call for them profit wise, if that was their intent they've succeeded wildly.

But I wouldn't exactly call them a revelation, the Great Work is not pressing play on a CD.
