Sorry to spam but I think this is worth it.

Apparently the US Government has seized a shit load of wood and stuff from Gibson on the grounds that they obtained it in such a way the breaches the Lacey Act, it's bullshit.

Anybody else notice on ebay that the market is flooded with gibson's at the moment? everyone and their brother is selling a faded series and any model with exotic wood, faded sg's are barely selling for 400 bucks right now. Maybe we can finally knock gibson of their high price horse and get em down to where the average musician can afford a a les paul standard again...... NOTE: not that i don't support hard working americans, but there is a difference between consumer markup and consumer rip off, average product markup is 35% of the final sale price or 50% of cost, gibson is probably closer to 60 or 70% just because of their name.....

If/when Gibson goes down, the rest (think Fender) are soon to follow...

Gibson is definitely not alone here, just the first "test fucking" by the Feds.

Really thought it'd be petitioning them to stop with the awful, awful things they've been trying to do of late and go back to building good guitars.

I wonder if, when you can get firebird xs for $100 in three years, I can convert it into a useable guitar or if the shit-nes is just engrained in it's dna.

I saw one in GC the other day, and it looked worse in person than it did in the pictures.
