Mantra or something else...

So yesterday i was playing in the rehersal place all by my self and i noticed an annoying thing about my mantra overdrive, it sounded so small. Like overly compressed or something. Compering to my fuzzboxes that makes the amp sound bigger and more awesome the mantra made it sound like the shitty 15w ss amp i have at home. Even if i crank the volume up and turn the gain down it had the same impact on the sound.
Dear ILF help me! I want to have another overdrive that can go high gain and low gain and it doesnt have to have treb n bass knobs a single tone knob would be just as fine.
Im thinking about Eqd overdrives allot, maybe a white light or Monarch would do the trick.
Opinions and suggestions?

Dude, everybody here will tell you. FUCK OVERDRIVE. And I don't mean fuck it, I mean ss/bs fuck overdrive. I love it, it kicks my old dba interstellar overdriver in the ass, with which I had the same problem you do

And by my post I did mean the Fuck Overdrive from Small Sound/Big Sound, not simply that overdrive is bad.
That pedal sounds fucking phenomenal.

How does it sound in the mix? Sometimes stuff that sounds good on its own will sound terrible with a band and vice versa.

^^ if you're asking about the fuck, it sounds fucking incredible in my band. It sits beautifully in the mix and retains it's awesome sound.
But really if your problem is that the mantra sounds small, seriously.. Get fuck'd. It makes everything sound bigger no matter the gain setting. I was using mine as a "toan enhancer" all the time with the gain set low because it just makes your sound sound bigger and better. Now I mostly use it for a little crunch, still makes everything sound bigger and better.
IT'S THE BEST FUCKING PEDAL EVER JUST BUY IT

I'm gonna have to hop on the Fuck bandwagon!
Like the others, it's the best OD I've tried, FAT and natural sounding ranging from low gain beauty to super high gain heft. Stacks awesome, quiet, and the momentary Fuck stomp makes it sound like your shit's about to blow up when it's not. AWESOME!

That is a very accurate comparison. If PaulC's stuff is for TGP, and being that ILF is a motley bunch of hooligans........
Not to ruin the unanimity, but the Monarch does sound pretty thick from all the clips I've heard. And that Doomidrive......

That may be the next dirt pedal I snag.

The Monarch is killer but a much looser, nastier distortion at high gain settings. Pretty unique sounding with plenty of volume on tap but I love it for the lower gain stuff, sounds incredible. Great boost too imparting it's character on whatever you hit it with. Oh, and some very powerful tone controls that change the pedals sound and dynamic very noticeably.
Can't believe it wasn't mentioned until modernage threw down.
