Any help for an ILF'er?

I got a oc-2 off of ebay and finally got home, excited to play. I plug it in and it doesn't work. I'm using a one-spot currently  and the output jack seems to have been replaced with a standard washer. Any tips before I talk to the guy?

open it up and make sure there isn't a dead battery in there?
try it with a battery?
try different cords?
try it by itself if you're putting it in the signal chain?
if it's in the signal chain, is something else turned down so the signal isn't getting through? this happens to me regularly and drives me batshit.
make sure all the knobs are up? maybe one of them was taken off and replaced so it's pointing wrong?

Don't have batteries, thats the only reason I'm not sure it doesnt work. But i put it as the only thing in the chain, doesnt work. No battery in there, doesnt work. Different cords, doesnt work and so on so forth

You say you have a onespot... do you have the 9v adapter? If so try that, just leave the bat compartment open and try pressing the actual switch with your finger. The only thing I have ever had go wrong on bosses over the years is the power jack...

So you are getting power but no signal then? Well I guess you could take the back off and see if any of the solder joints on the jacks ect have come undone? That's about the best I can do.. But you might want to post this down in DIY just in case one of the dudes that know their shit don't notice or click on this thread...

Do we know how old it is?

Octave or Octaver (older OC-2s were named Octaver and later the "r" was dropped)?

ACA or PSA?

I guess it should work if it you are trying to power an ACA BOSS pedal with a 1spot/PSA; just not as well as and the LED will be dim. If it's an ACA pedal you'll want to daisy chain it off a PSA powered pedal (both power and route the signal), or run it off an ACA power supply,...or use a battery.

In case you didn't know,...but everyone here seems pretty savvy and this is likely common knowledge. Just saying
