Embarassingly Noobish Question Regarding Delay

Well, pricing, anyway. the only delay i've ever owned was a memory boy, and i didn't really like it. But that's not the point, the point is: What's a reasonable price for a used DD-3?

$65-75 I'd say.

I'd say between 50 and 70. They're pretty cool. Just a clean, simple digital delay.

If you want something similar, but cheaper, I'd suggest trying one of the behringer delays. They make a memory man clone that I've been meaning to try out. I used to own the echo machine and I still use on of their tuners, and all I can say is that they're very good for the price. I'd try either the dd400, dd600, dr400, em600, or if you want to try the memory man copy, the vm1. They're awesome and surprisingly durable. The dd400 is probably the closest to the dd3 in terms of features.

Cheap and it sounds rad.

that's the green one, right?

it has some quite cool sounds, i admit... but in terms of reliability... not so good. Smetimes it didn't even turn on when stepped on... plus there's so many modes but the knob for choosing them is NOT notched and seriously finding a right mode can be PAIN IN THE ASS

plus it buzzes

if you need something simple and don't mind shelling out a few more, i'd go with boss

The MXR Carbon Copy isn't much more expensive than that $75 asking for a used Boss, and are quite well liked. If you're looking for digital though, you're looking for digital!

And as a newcomer to the world of delay, wait until it seduces you into seriously considering dropping money on both a Strymon El Capistan and a Timeline. It's a lovely effect.

I don't know your location; here in the Bay Area Hazelwould's $65-75 figure is pretty accurate from what i've seen lately, depending on condition and how many they have in the buy/sell shop.

Yeah, I'm looking at them at Music-Go-Round, if any of you are familiar with that particular chain. The one near me (and i use the term "near" very loosely...) has a dd-6 for only 10 bucks more. jump on it?

The DD-6 is neat. It has tap tempo and trails when you turn the effect off. I'd say go for it.

Did you say "trails"?

Yeah, it's worth the extra ten. It'd be worth an extra 20, even.

I was wondering if there might be anything newer than a DD-3 available, but i've learned not to answer questions folks don't ask :)
