Ampeg Scrambler RI vs clone

Loved this crazy splattery octave fuzz ever since hearing Cactus back in high school. Has anyone had experience with both and say whether it is worth it to do the RI which is hard to find over the clones which pop up on ebay quite often.

Buy a clone with a volume knob. I had the RI and it was cool, but it would have been nice to be able to alter the level. Not to mention, I sold mine for $300+, and you could definitely get a good pedal in that style for half to two-thirds of that amount.

Pink Elephant's got a clean mix knob. And it sounds good. And I got one for less than $200.

RI if the cosmetics are important to you.
I sold my RI, kept two clones. The clones are both close enough I can't tell which was which on a recording (or the RI when I had it for that matter) unless I took notes at the time.
A volume control (not a blend, which is present on all of them) is a nice addition but not 100% necessary; can always hit the volume pedal on the floor if it gets overbearing.
Love mine though, they're the pedals I would sell last in the dirt category.
Most of my meaner than hell sounds have a Scrambler and/or a Blender in them somewhere; nothing else chops and mangles the same way.

No shit, didn't realize these don't have a master volume. I figured it was "balance" like on a Buzzaround (which is volume). I don't think I could have effectively used the Elephant without a volume control.
