A Challenge To Pedal Builderz - Mutron Octave Divider

I've always wanted a mutron octave divider. The few I've tried have sounded amazing, phat, warm,
unstable and crazy.
And around $800. No one seems to make one. So-> I
dare you to put one into production. The world
does not need a new delay, TS or BMP clone (with or without tweeks).
Make me my god damned octave divider!!!!! You'll sell at least 3!!!!

Devi and I have been talking about doing it. It's basically just down to getting the spare money together to buy (or borrow?) a clean original to look off of and compare sounds. The circuit's really not that complicated so it'd basically be a weekend project to get the design together. Anybody have one they want to lend?

If someone did that I would probably buy it. If they added other cool features I would definitely buy it. Analogue octavers are totally sweet.

There's was some talk on the build your own clone forum about them doin a pcb/kit. I imagine freestompboxes probably dissected that one.

Every time I try to load the byoc site it crashes my browser... But that's awesome! What features does the kit have?

"Before there was the P.O.G., there was the Mutron Octave Divider. It had an octave down, an octave
up, and a dry mix. We took the Mutron Octave Divider and keep the circuit 100% original, but added
some improvements. The BYOC Divided Octave is housed in a 1610 size enclosure, so it's much
smaller than the original. We've replaced the wall plug and noisy AC power transformer with the
MAX1044 charge pump so that the BYOC Divided Octave can be powered with a standard 9VDC power
supply, but still provide the circuit with a bipolar power supply for all the headroom and range of the
original. And last but not least, we made it true bypass. Even the auxiliary output has true bypass.
Aside from those improvements, the BYOC Divided Octave is 100% true to the original. We didn't make
any modifications or cut any corners. The BYOC Divided Octave comes with all the exact same chips
and transistors that were used in the original. It has the mix and tone knob. It has the "ringer",
"stabilize", and "bass only" switches and it has the auxiliary output. And it also has all the tone of the
original, but without the $600+ price tag."

I like the way they crap out with stabalize off. The Dead Man soundtrack has some good examples
