Ibanez FZ-7 love?

Hey guys

i could get a FZ-7 for a few bucks (40 this time :p ) from my friend. My financial situation is getting better so i'm thinking about buying it next month.

I've borrowed it before and absolutely loved the 100% speaker damage option... shit sounds fucked up

the thing is... is there anything i could do about the switch? It's really unreliable

have you tried? do you like?

The switches go on these but are cheap. Small Bear electronics has them for under a buck a piece. (Same switch for the Soundtank series -- I bought five for my two pedals to have spares.)

Yeah, both tonelock and soundtank had seriously shitty switches... i got free soundtank flanger with my tele (second hand, the seller was incredible) and the switch was pretty much the only thing that pissed me off

the same thing with tonelock... allright, cheap pedals but if i want to turn them of it better be happening.... or i can't stand having them on my board

I've had one for a while. The switch worked fine. When placed after the reverb, it was the best thing ever, seriously. I paid 25 euros for it, sold it to a friend for the same amount (wouldn't pay much more for one, to be honest). The damage switch was cool, in a psychocandy kind of way. It's really high gain, but yes, generic. DS1 of fuzz pedals? :idk:

Waiting for Tom to make a fuzzbox that looks better than this one.

I am currently fixing one for a friend
looks like the switch was going so he took the switch plate off and lost the top, I am going to run a momentary switch to it and see what happens, already desoldered the old switch and it looks like I can just drop in the momentary

Huge pain to get everything out of the box and I will have to fabricate a plate of some type because of the missing switch plate.

Thing sounds great though and you could just keep it in a TB loop if you were so inclined.

Not sure what my friend does to pedals he completely destroyed a boss pedal a while back, but luckily you can get spare enclusures for them, no such luck with the ibanez.

I bought a Laney stack from a dude who threw in a Boss GE-7, and expression pedal, a full restock of really nice tubes and preamp tubes, and a whole bunch of extra leads, none of which were broken, and delivered it to my house. Guy's name was Neil, excellent fellow. It wasn't like the amp was broken, either. We still use it, still sounds great.

Sorry to be off topic, just wanted to point out some people really go the extra mile and years later, those people will get talked about in a positive light on the internet.

i have a tone-lok lo fi pedal and the stomp switch on it sucks. very fickle when it comes to turning on and off. i found using a dead 9 volt, unclipped, in the battery compartment as a spacer makes a huge improvement in the switch reliability.

Once I get the momentary switch wired in I will take pics, I know it works with boss style pedals should be the same thing
you just put the switch where the battery compartment is and drill through the plate, doesn't make it true bypass or anything just alot more foolproof to operate.
