I'm looking to get a pedal that responds well to circuit bending, has a lot of potential bend points, and is fairly cheap, under $30. Does anybody have any recommendations or cool experiences with such things?

Supposedly the Arion Octave pedal has a billion bends. I have one here waiting for me to get off my arse and add switches...

But there is not better bend than Devi's DS-1 bend. Everyone I know loves it.

Yeah. And I was afraid it wasn't that bendable, that accually made me feel better.

Yeah, I only found two bends though, a rhythmic, er, thumping? Probably just routing the clock signal to the audio output, and then the meanest goddamn fuzz ever. Unfortunately, I couldnt figure out how to turn the volume down on it.

How do I attach bend-y switches to surface mount stuff? Soldering on top of the component doesnt seem smart.

Well, to be honest, I just went in with the littlest tip on an iron I could find, and soldered everything from existing joints/pads. Its not fun, but everything survived and it was the first thing i had ever soldered on, YMMV.

Yes, SMCs are complete bitches. I pulled the pad from one off of a Behr. Ultra Octaver and had to half-assedly re-create the solder pad to make it work again... It works, but it has this annoying (quiet, but still annoying) buzz added to the signal...

Like, every delay ever made seems to be capable of some interesting sounds via bending. Just look to Danelectro and behringer for those.

I totally want to try bending one of those Behringer Pitch Shifters...

And just a side note: If you want to try bending the Ultra Vibrato, don't waste your time. Nothing interesting or unique that I could find... just lots of tone-generating bends.

The Danelectro FAB Metal has a fair amount of interesting sounds, most of which I found on the second circuit (You have to remove the one behind the bottom plate to access it)

I'm not 100% on whether bending means modding, but you can trip out the danelectro fab echo to be a pretty decent delay.

bend can be as simple as a switch and a wire between any tw points in the circuit, sometimes selected at random. that depends on if you like to just randomly test every point and possibly kill it or trace parts of it to do intentional specific things. one of the most common bends is to send the output back to the input or back to some part in the circuit. hack the clock for adjustable speed. starve it. you know, basic bends. some people add opamps and stuff for buffered feedback, filters, LFO's, phase invert etc.. if it fits in the case anything is fair game.

stereo delay with built in modulation. you can probably hack the modulation. you have two channels to feedback. matrix feedback even.

this is UV300 super slow vibrato with a switch for a bigger cap. like Aen said, small tip, regular soldering iron. cut up an ethernet cable and use that small wire. I used something bigger and it still worked.
