Noob asks for help with a footswitch and Small Stone mod

hey, guys... it's my first real pedal surgery, so i'll gladly ask...

1) my Fix'd Fuzz needs a new footswitch, the current one pretty frequently cuts the sound off, turns it down etc. while stepped on. Is there anything i should be really careful about?

2) since not having a buffer on my board, the volume drop of my green Sovtek Small Stone has been pretty damn noticable. Does anyone have any info on the mod for fixing that?

i'm pretty much a repair noob so i don't know any good sites to search for and i trust ILF people... if my topic offends you, enclose a funny/offensive/totally gay picture with your response. Thank you

Footswitches are one of the harder bits to learn to wire well. They're pretty sensitive. What you wanna do is make sure your soldering iron is pretty hot, and maybe use a bigger tip, so that you can solder nice and fast. Just be careful not to sit there to holding the iron on the switch.

Converting Sovteks isn't too hard (I'm assuming they're done the same way as the Big Muffs), but you do have to cut traces and solder on new wires.

When i open up a muff, i trace the pcb and wires with the schematic in hand and then i write down how the switch and pots are wired before i do any work. It helps to have a good understanding of pedals and switches

It seemes that the mod won't be necessary. I'll look at the switch in a few days probably, it doesn't look hard...
