Ok, now I know you can go "full gain" by bypassing a pot with a switch. This is one of the options with the snowflake kit, I believe?

Would it be at all possible to do something similar, but switch to different resistance in the rotation? Say if I wanted to go from 0 gain, to 3/4.

I want something like this on my behemoth, but have yet to email Alan. Would also be nice for some other things

You could switch in a resistor across two lugs to lower the resistance...

Or if it's a volume or gain control, you could replace the ground with a resistor so it won't turn down as far.

yeah thats what I did on my new feedback looper. I used a 100k pot and a 47k to ground for the volume so when it gets jumpered to bypass the pot, it still has 47k to ground instead of grounded output (no audio)

I think its better to use a DPDT toggle with the resistor values exactly like your favorite setting on the pot. I drew this for you

Or you could have two different gain pots and use the switch to toggle between them.

I actually made a diagram for that the other day, with a 3PDT switch and a status LED. I can try and upload it if you want, but I guess someone else can easily procure a better version.

I'm doing what culturejam mentioned on my personal Rat Tail today so I can go b/w low gain to high gain. I would rather have one pedal that can do 2 things that I love than 2 pedals.

Let me see if I understand, by example, r1&3 would be my gain pot, and r2+4 would be the resistance I want (whatever 3/4 of the sweep measures out to)? That would be ideal if so.

It's a good idea but for this purpose not what I want/need. The extra pot is another needed part, another hole, and requires more room. Will be good for other DIY pursuits no doubt.

Rick, thanks for posting those diagrams. The first one I could picture in my head, but didn't think about the 2nd.

I know a couple of people have used it in Dr Boogey builds, makes it a two channel device. And totally click-less.

a vol pot works like a voltage divider. but the total resistance from the source to ground remains constant. in this example, measure the pot at lugs 2 & 3 to get the value of R1. measure lugs 1 & 2 to get the value of R3. it makes sense that R1 + R3 = the total resistance of the pot 100k. adjust the volume how you like it and remove the pot to measure it again and get the values for R2 & R4. it still adds up to 100k. its just dividing in a different spot.
