I'm curious about 7-, 8-, 9-string guitars, but almost all of the ones I've seen are exaggerated super strats w floyd roses. Not my thing at all.
Do any of you know of any makers of 7-, 8-, 9-string guitars in other designs?
Cheers!

I want a Baritone, but there's only a handful available locally so I've started looking at 7 strings as well. The ESP Viper looks good, but both the baritone and 7 string version run about 1700 euros, at least the 7 string comes in several cheaper LTD versions that range between 300-600.
Gibson Explorer 7 string

Thanks everyone! Apart from maybe a couple of things, it still seems that these guitars imply the target audience is metal or jazz players almost exclusively.
What about oddball noise heads, psychedelic freaks, and people mixing things up?
Yuri Landman?

Honestly... I wouldn't use an 8 string unless I got in a metal band and needed to play low. I personally can't see a reason for one.
