Peavey Bandit 112?

So, my amp died and instead of paying the money to fix the broken amp that will most likely break again because of all the problems I've had, I'm going to buy a used solid state. Fuck all this tube shit. There's a used Peavey Bandit 112 at a local shop for $150. I'm thinking about just bringing one of my strats in and doing a partial trade. The amp sounded good when I plated it and sounded good through a few of my pedals. Any of you have any experiences with this amp?

The one at the shop was a mid 90s.

For a good SS amp, check out the old 70's model Silvertones. Also,if you like a good bit of low end and/or mids, geetars sound great through bass amps

Never used one myself, but I know that amp gets a lot of praise. Old Peavey's rule. They're tanks, and loud as hell. I have Mark VIII bass head, and it sounds pretty dang good considering.

Nice ! If it sounds good to you, then it IS good.
Peaveys (from my experience) are pretty reliable & easy on the wallet for repairs if needed. Sorry to hear your having trouble with your tube amp. If in the future you wanna try tubes again, I would suggest a Fender of the Silverface variety. VERY RELIABLE (in my experiences) & they love pedals as well.

the bandit 112 was my first "big" amp. Shit lasted me like a year before it stopped working. Still have it in storage somewhere. I might bring it out and fix it up if i can get around $150 for it.

I have a bandit, It's currently built into a head, I love it play it all the time, I have done terrible things to it and it still works well.
I got it for free so I am not sure 150 is a good price, but they love pedals, clean channel is great, drive channel is pretty useless to me.

i just traded mine for a gator rack case, mine lasted 7+ years of pretty heavy use, and i got it used in about 2001. solid amp, nice cleans and good distortion and overdrive, mine liked pedals too. try to get the price down a bit imo. i was only asking for 100 when i was selling mine

Check out Fender FM212R too.
I like the cleans better on that amp and the gain channel isnt all bad either.

Is the bandit new enough to be one of the 'Transtube' ones? They sound good, but might not last for a lot of band practices...
Good sounding SS, cheap, and bulletproof is an old Crate GX-130C 2x12 combo or head + cab. Take pedals excellently, death-metal-if-you-need-it distortion, decent chorus + reverb. Based on the Ampeg VH-140C design. The Ampegs get more collectable every year, and those Crate GX are still kicking and easy to find. The Crate Shockwave GT3500 is a 350 watts into 2 ohms more recent version. Tons of professional bands used those to tour with because they sound good and are zero-maintenece.
Or a Marshall 8100/ 100V head / 80v combo; Valvestate w/ the one 12ax7 preamp. Also easy to find and inexpensive. Some of the later VS amps were OK, but they got less decent as they cheapened the design.
SPAM: I've got a Crate GT120HL head for sale for the price of that Peavey. It sounds better and will last for years of practices and gigging. It's the 120 watt into 4 ohm version of the Shockwave. Then the Crate solid states have gone down in quality ever since too.
ie advice, don't get other random crates or marshall solid states.

I had a 1993-ish Peavey Bandit 112 "Scorpion Equipped" amp. The dirty channel was the fucking bomb when dimed out on the Super Sat control. Clean was okay, and the spring reverb is pretty darn good. Also, it's got an effects loops and a preamp out/power amp in jacks. Lotta bang for the buck.

Good amp, pretty loud, kinda noisy. It's really heavy for a 1x12. I'd do it. Then get a amp stand to put it on, it's not very good when it hugs the ground.
