Broken Muff? I blame the Knob!

My NYC Muff is broken, and I heard these things have a lot of issues with their knobs.
Essentially that their wired in a way which if a pot is damaged in some way the entire circuit stops working.
It was a friends until he gave it to me.
It stopped working after he took the knobs off and replaced them with others.
Tossed it to me for free
Anyone here knob how to check if that's the issue?
The signal passes through the inactive pedal, but no sound when it's on.

If you start a thread in
DIY and post pics of the guts you'll probably get some good answers.

Gut shots are a must to get any of our resident wizards on the case.

Why would the knobs make a difference? Shitty pots maybe, could be damaged when changing the knobs, but the knobs themselves are just bits of plastic?

I said knob in the title as a bit of a pun.
The rest is my bad, misspeaking.
The pots are the issue here.
Gut shot coming soon, a blasted camera would help in a time like this...

See if pushing down on the knobs helps. The knobs are hard to get off, and the box will bend if you aren't careful. The force could break a solder joint if the pots are board mounted.
Sheet metal enclosures are stupid. : D

CLOSE.
I pulled the shaft out of the tone pot.
I just had to jam some old picks between the knob and the chassis, and everything is golden!
So happy, I can't believe it was that easy.
Thanks for all of the help everyone, despite it not being that big of a deal I felt it was important to know the issue is at rest.
