So ever since I got my M9 I've started using the optical tremolo on it, and I love it. I use to use my amps before, but not as I got the M9.

Out of curiosity, what are some awesome tremolo pedals out there that sounds similar?

I know the Catalinbread Pareidolia is not a tremolo (or vibrato) exactly, but I've been really interested in trying one of those as well.

Only tremolo I had was a Dr. Scientist, sounded great. Treble knob was extremely useful.

That's what I would recommend as well. The latch feature is a really nice touch.

I haven't tried the new verison, but I'm sure they're even better.

Waiting on the new Dr. Scientist myself, old version was great, new looks incredible.

Shape Shifter is an awesome trem for the price. Sounds fantastic and the tap/ratio feature is great. Pedal was a bit large though.

Goatkeeper 3 is also superb, way more than just trem, too much for me.

Hard not to GAS for the Tremolessence, but if you're looking for cheaper, less tweakable options the Seppuku Repeater is pretty cool and the EQD Hummingbird doesn't look bad either.

I've been using the Black Cats Mini Trem for a couple of months now and really like it. The features it has over a "regular" trem are tone and volume knobs, plus a "double-time" stomp which lets you speed up the trem. I've been using the pedal almost like a Leslie cab at times, hitting that switch during faster passages for a little more warble, if you will.

Goatkeeper is amazing, best feature set out there, Powerglide is the best "amp-trem" I've used, Tremolessence sounds great too.

Goatkeeper is indeed amazing--but it's VCA-based--rather crisp sounding (in a good way), and that leaves me GASing for warm OTA (optical) sounds. Actually it was Line 6's Bias Tremolo on the MM4 that got me GASing for more than my amp's trem--that flavor is very cool and leans slightly more towards the phase/vibe district. The Pareidolia ain't a bias trem sim either, but yet another cool flavor.

So anyways, I've been researching the opto-trem area, and there are tons of good one's out there. The Danelectro Cool Cat sounds really good for a cheep option. Diamond and Empress are optical and tricked out more towards the GK area, though obviously not as far gone into sequencer pulsearama. Other high-option optical trems include Iron Ether Cygnet, Dedalo Tres, Catalinread Semaphore, aforementioned Black Cat and Tremolessence. The list goes on. And on. Since I've got waveform madness covered (I've also got an Adrenalinn which has some cool pulseapalooza settings if ya can stomach digital), I'll probably just snag a Cool Cat for shallow, sinewave, warm up duty. Doesn't stop me from wincing that I passed up that Diamond in teh b/s/t for teh low, low price....

I've heard good stuff about those empress tap trems.

i've listened to a metric ton of tremolo demos trying to find something sufficiently superior to my TR-2 that i could justify spending the additional moneez. out of the stuff Dandolin mentions above, the optical trem i think sounds best is the Diamond; i haven't heard the Iron Ether or the Dedalos.

I own an "old" Boss PN-2 which is good for tremolo and great for stereo panning.

Used to have the Seppuku Repeater and the EQD Hummingbird II: both are great pedals, but I had the choose, so the the Seppuku went and the EQD stayed (I found it quieter and more versatile).

I've a Catalinbread Semaphore Tremolo hitting my door in the next couple of days (hopefully), really looking forward to trying it.
