Help! Colorsound wah fuzz swell

I heard some loud awful noise while playing then nothing. So I opened it up to discover the black wire had detached! I have no idea how to do any electrical work. I'm guessing I'm going to need to find a soldering kit. Where should I solder the black cord? Where the red one is?

It's probably the ground wire.
Look at the switch. Is there a lug that has solder but no wire? If so that's probably where it goes.
Using battery power try touching the end of the black wire to the lug and see if it works.
This may help.

when I touch the ground to the old solder joint where it connects in the working picture I get staticy noise but the effect still doesnt work. Do I need to solder it for it to work?

In the picture I posted none of the lugs have two wires going to them.
Where you are touching the black wire is there already a wire going to that lug or is it empty?
Can you post a picture of yours similar to the ones I posted showing all of the guts in one pic?

Might seem silly but, where does the black wire go "naturally?" Like, as it lies. You might be able to tell based on the length of the wire, or direction it wants to go.

I believe I found that spot, but when i touch the wire there it only makes scratchy noises, it doesn't make the pedal work. Does that mean it's the wrong post, or do you have to solder it for it work?

that depends on how much dirt and grease was on the lug that your touching and how steady your hand is, as well as how much pressure you applied. if your sure that is where it goes, just solder it in and you should be fine. also, your body has a resistance of about 1M. I have found that I need to be careful what I touch when trouble shooting so can I get an accurate reading from my multi meter.

Even still, chances are, the electros are dead in that sucker as old as it is. Do you have a multimeter? Can you post a picture of the entire inside in one shot? We need to see where the black wire is connected to on the other side.

well then, skip all that and replace the electrolytic caps with the same value. watch the neg stripe on the electros, its important that you not wire them in backwards.

I think that black wire goes to the input jack. hard to tell from those pics though.

So it's the black wire coming from the battery snap and going out of frame in the bottom right? If so, it's the ground wire and could go to any grounded point. I can't see power jack...the ground should be easy to find, but you'll have to detach one of the pcbs. It (ground) will likely run the border on the pcb. Might be able to run it from the input jack also.
