http://cgi.ebay.com/Danelectro-Dead-67- ... 780wt_1139Tell me about this one? anyone ever play one? ive never played a dano, so i was wondering about the feel of the neck, how the lipstick pickups sound, hows the trem on that one? i need something with single coils and priced very low. I like the look of Danos, except the single cut ones. any input would help. idk if id get a chance to play one before this auction ends, thanks!

I have no experience with that model, but as far as cheap, single coils go, Danelectros seem to be pretty damn awesome.

I have a baritone dano dead-on in that same color scheme. The neck feels pretty good to me, it's not glossy like a fender it's kindof a satin type finish, it didn't feel big or awkward or anything like that, but it is a baritone so...
The body feels way thin though. It can't be more than two inches thick, but it rocks in all kinds of ways. The trek is nothing to be excited about, you can get some subtle bends and with a delay you can get some mild chorus going, but you can't bend between notes or anything like that and it's very stiff. The lipstick pickups do have a jangley quality to them it's kindof a nice sparkly tone that's a lot of fun. Some of these did have neck issues, warping and poor setups and whatnot, the overriding advice about buying these I got was to try it out before a bought it, I didn't and I got a good guitar so I'm not sure how well founded that advice was. I'd go for it

I love mine and would play it more if I could wrap my head around the baritone tuning. Oh yeah, and best coast uses the baritone version of this guitar as well.

You should be able to find an original for $350.

Guitarist in my band has one of the baritone ones. The sound is "twangy", has nice edge to it at least with bright strings he uses if that helps at all...
He did end up replacing the bridge with a fixed one 'cause the trem was more of a problem.

there seem to be multiple examples in every shop i visit, so it's likely that there are deals to be had.

If you don't plan to use the trem, it's a pretty nifty guitar.

so i didn't get a dano in the end hahaha, went with a surf green Jay turser SG. got it off ebay for 175 shipped, it was a steal, the color is amazing in person! the finish is smooth and bright no flaws, action is low, fast smooth neck, p90s are pretty sweet for a low end brand, could use a few upgrades, knobs, tuners, pick ups. but for the price its a sick guitar! too ka gamble and came out on fucking top, will post pic in the guitar thread, apologies in advance for shitty cell phone pics lol
