Anyone have one of these?

Hows the balance?

How thick is the neck?

How hot are the pickups?

Is it worth the money?

Thinking about picking one up on the cheaps on ebay

I have the Humbucker version of this guitar and I really like it. There are a bunch of reviews for it here:

I think the only difference is the pickups so these should at least give you a general idea of the quality of the guitar.

Been looking at that baby for a bit. Probably my next axe. Pull the trigger and flip it if you're not into it.

Oh shit. If I find one of those used at some point I'll totally jump on it. The regular Special Faded is my #1 by far and has been for years, and I effing LOVE p90's. As much as I loathe the shit Gibson has been doing lately, I can't resist this.

SG + P90s = :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!: :!!!:

If a worn brown pops up on CL for a decent price I'm getting one.

I think that pic is of the regular ol' SG Classic. MF is not always as on top of this as they should be.

I like the faded brown a lot more than the cherry too.

I think CBA713 has a faded Les Paul with P-90's in TV Yellow.

Edit:
There are also these:

They are $100 more but seem to have a few upgrades over the Classic Faded.

I didn't think the neck felt any different from any other SG. if you have played p90's, you probably know what to expect. in the store people would play all the SG's and thoughts on the p90 version were always "I like this one" or "I dont like that one". so I think its just subjective on if you have been playing humbuckers and gibsons or if you just like the sound of p90. people usually gravitate towards a sound they already know. I wouldn't buy a p90 guitar if I never played one. you might like, you might not.

Indeed, standard Cherry finish. Honestly the only thing I'd change on the guitar is I'd prefer it in Black. If the Classic faded is just a different finish, I'd say go for it. I've beat mine around a lot and it still works just fine. The neck is very accessible as any SG tends to be. I'm really not picky with guitars though, as long as it looks good, is comfortable to play, and take a few throws to the ground I'm alright.

As far as the P90s, they're my favorite pick up for straight rock/punk/noise. Great for chords clean or fuzzy, and for lead guitar it's pretty good clean/slightly driven, but with fuzz you better be ready to tame some noise. What I love about P90s is that they kick through fuzz pedals nicely.

Overall my favorite thing to do with my Classic is crankt he reverb on my amp, turn on a nice low end friendly overdrive/fuzz and kick on the rhythm pick up. Goes from Punky Blues to Shoegaze in a heart beat.

Look at this new shit from Epiphone:

Image

More info (and pics) about new Epi models is here: http://www.epiphone.com/press/new2011.html

I would definitely give this a shot as I really liked the Epi '56 Les Paul I tried. It will probably have a very different feel from the faded Gibson.
