I like it after so I can build swells with a distortion or fuzz.

After. I hate the sound of fuzzed or distorted delay --- like Roy Buchanan running that tape delay into his dirty amp. Bleuch.

Definitely before for me. My Montavillian Echo is first in my chain, as well. I really really like how fuzz reacts with two or three different pitches, so single note shit with a delay before can create some really unexpected and awesome sounds.

Delay after fuzz: I can't handle the mud you get otherwise, also: Germy fuzzes like to be way up front in the chain, before buffered pedals or they are pretty lacking.

They are both cool in their own way. I have it after right now, but that's not because before is bad.
