I've been interested in one of these for a while for faux-tremolo arm sounds (i know they wont be the same as an actual tremolo arm).
there's a guy on CL selling one for $100. the last 2 sold on ebay for $70, so i was thinking about offering him that much. but i also have a co-worker with an old whammy ii that he'll give me a deal on, probably $100 or less. theres no power supply so i cant really try it out right now.

what ya'll think?

Never had a Whammy, but I love my Super Shifter. Blendable octaves in Harmonist mode are the shizzzzzz.

I'd get the whammy. more options.

The Whammy II - that's the little black one, right? I love it - no latency at all between picking the note and hearing it (unlike all the other red versions I've tried). I tried out the Boss PS a while back - has some tricks on it the whammy doesn't. I put it on my list for when I've got a fuckton of megabucks.

The ps 5 has terrible output issues i wish out didn't cuz it was an awesome effect. I hear the whammy had bad tone sucking issues.but again awesome effect. Look into ps6 I think it's much better than both

I only used my whammy 2 for chorus...

I use my Whammy II for everything - haven't noticed tone-sucking. I've got metal shims that fit under the rocker pedal to convert it to do m3rd up or 5th pitchbends
Not checked out the PS6 yet... Boss are just awesome. They can do this kind of thing.

Isn't the Whammy II the one people over? Like it is the one to have. I haven't seen anybody going apeballs for the III so I thought it was the II.

dude a whammy 2 is pretty hard to find at a decent price, I would go for it, although I would want to test it

I have the newer whammy and an expression factory and I love them. The dive bomb is awesome, I use it more than the actual floyd.
