Question regarding input jacks...

Is there any benefit in using a TRS 1/4" jack on the input of an effect pedal if I don't ever wire my pedals for 9v battery use, or am I just waisting money?

The reason I ask is because I'm about to place an order, and I could use some more jacks. I got to thinking that lately I've been left with an extra lug (the ring lug) when I'm finished wiring my pedals, and it would make things a lot easier, and cheaper, when order 1/4" jacks if I only had to worry about ordering TS mono jacks.

Should I ditch the TRS, or is there a use for that ring lug in my pedals that I'm overlooking?

I actually use batteries still... only as back ups and for when I don't wanna get my full board out, but still... screw that extra lug! (If you don't use batteries)
