I think I've asked this early here, too, but the search engine sucks like the downtown Hairy Mary so consider this an update:
list bands here bass-guitars-only bands. Bands that work without regular electric guitars but use instead bass guitars, bass vi... Perhaps more than one of them.
Cop Shoot Cop 1987-1996
Jonas Hellborg Group 1990 (the early nineties group had two bass guitars)
Necromantia 1989 -
the presidents of the united states of america 1993 (at least they used to use)
Cantata Sangui 1996-
Gnu 1996-
Morkobot 2004-
Bassinvaders 2007-
Sing Orpheus - ?
OM uses only bass guitars, though only one. And the Mares Of Thrace seems to rock a bass vi? (the cheap Gretsch that I, too, have) amiright? KTU, if warrguitar counts as bass .
...and so on. I'm sure I forgot some and can't find the updated list at the moment from my office computer, for some reason.

RIght you are, though they did pick up a Fender Jag VI at some point, here's to hoping they tour Europe so it can be confirmed in person.

Bongripper's guitars tune in F#, which is a whole step above a bass. I'd count it.

Yeah, that, with Jonas Hellborg and Necromantia encouraged me to do the bass metalz the same way
Especially the Jonas Hellborg group album, which was the very first fusion jazz band album I listened through. Hellborg use of distorted bass impressed me - the man got clearly all the AWESOME licks and arpeggios and crazy slap 'n snap funk bass technics mastered. AND still he played chords by bass, which made him my hero much the same way as Lemmy. Cop Shoot Cop had the angry ass kicking, though, that I lamented Jonas lacked (those days).
