Didn't last more than a few hours behore it got to taste the sand paper!

I bring you one of the more hated gibson guitars, the Jonas brothers signature Melody Maker:

It is a great guitar but the JB thingy was just awful so it had to go.

It was a really strange feeling to mess up a brand new guitar but i have no remorse of doing it

Alot more work is needed and a few parts need to be changed. I'm gonna replace the bridge pickup with a Bare knuckle pig 90 and get a pigtail-bridge. mabe i'll change the pots and wires to, we'll see.
Later i will try to etch in my favourite poem on the front and mabe something else.
Mabe i'm a bit crazy but i like it as it looks right now, a no-nonsense rock machine.

Edit: did some work on the paint today....now it looks like this.

Edit nr 2 (or 3...) zombie thread!
The guitar is done and turned out great.
Stripped all of the paint, painted it brown. Oiled in the neck and exchanged the pickups to a thorn GT-90 in the neck and a Bare knuckle pig-90 (alnico V) in the bridge.
Tuned it in C. high output p90 -->thin mahogany body = win!
tried it out on my Laney Klipp (+2x12, loaded wth 2 canabis rex's) and a RAT. it's pretty much the best tone i ever had!
Riffed out for atleast 4minutes (!) before my neighbours knocked on the door...... oh well.....tomorrow is another day

Why not just buy a normal melody maker and rout it for P90's? Seems like a lot of trouble and extra expense when you didn't like the look of the guitar from the start. :idk:

Maybe he just had easier access to sandpaper than to a router.

How much did that cost? Just curious, I like how it looks though.

How fat is the neck on that?

Are these selling really cheap because no one cares about the whole Jonas Bros connection?

Great! I'd buy that if it was cheap enough and do the same thing.

Seriously, at the right price, I would hit it, strip it, and refin. I'm not sure I like just the logo sanding as a "relic" job. Maybe do like Johnny Rotten making it into an "I Hate Pink Floyd" T-shirt?

How many pieces is the body? Cherry or TV yellow worthy?

I bought it for a little less than 5000 SEK (same pricerange as an epiphone lp custom in sweden). I wanted a low weight guitar with ebony fingerboard and p90s. wraparound bridge was also a plus. oh, and i cant stand the small headstock of the ordinary melody makers...
Can't really think of another guitar with these specs (atleast in this pricerange anyway...). i thought The Jonas brothers connection was funny as hell with all of the rant all over the internet. I have never heard them so i dont care.
I'm not done with the guitar yet, I'm just letting it be as it is for now until i get the other bridge and pickup. I'll post when there is any progress.

oh, and the neck is what they call 60s slim taper or something like that. to me it feels great. A bit thicker than my G&L Asat special, hope it helps :)

you could have just put a different pickguard on it and said "JB" stood for "James Brown." or "Joey Beltran" if you REALLY wanted to confuse people

heres why i actually like that guitar.:

the electronics are the same as a normal melody maker, 2 p-90's, and its actually CHEAPER than a normal melody maker.

plus playing a Jonas Brothers guitar is WAY more punk than doing 1970s Iggy stuff nowadays. talk about fucking with peoples' perceived notions of acceptability...
