Might be cool if Travis Barker played drums on it.

Almost seems like an oxymoron.

OK, someone please explain the Travis Barker thing to me. Why do people worship this guy?
I've heard a lot of Blink in my day, and I watched all those videos, and I still don't get why people out there go on and on about him being one of the best drummers around.

I didn't realize there that many hipsters on ilf. I knew there were a few, but daaaaammmnn. hahaha. Let's get some things straight. No Barker fanboi here. In fact, with the exception of his short lived stint as The Baron von Tito, I don't like any album he's ever played on. But technically speaking, he doesn't suck... if you were talking about dick........ well that's a whole 'different subject.
I enjoy the concept of rap. But being a musician, I think I would find it more interesting if rappers performed with a live band. I know it's not unheard of (I think I remember seeing old footage of Ice T w/ a band). I know it's apples and oranges, but seeing Nine Inch Nails live would've been super lame, and lack most of the energy if it was just Trent and maybe Atticus in the back pushing buttons. As for rap-rock... that was doomed to fail from the beginning. It couldn't work with white, middle-class brats. No cred. There was only one legit rap-rock band, and the reason why they were successful was because they weren't a bunch of white, middle-class brats. It's not a race thing, but it is about social, ethnic and cultural background. It's the same reason why TGP doctors/lawyers will never be great at the blues. "I've got the too much money, but I work too much to spend it all blues" just doesn't work.
But back on topic. I like those remixes much better than the original cuts. As far as I know he's the only one doing it, and he's built up cred in that culture which keeps it from being ironic. Plus he's just fun to watch play. That boy hits those drums like he just caught them messin around with his momma.

I don't know, think of it as Kafkaesque.
Also, I know for a fact(?) that you're smart enough not to fall back on the hipster-bashing routine when folks don't dig what you post.

Why does he move so much? His playing is so inefficient.

This.
You don't have to have your hands start 3 feet above your head to do a snare hit.

It will sound different though. Most of the effect of his playing on the second video (or was it the third one?) came from mic distortion though so it's hard to tell what he's worth. Plus the concept of rapping and someone playing the drums really fast to it is meh to me. But hitting a snare (or cymbal) really hard from high above will result in a different sound. Fact.
