The Next Big Thing Effect

All these Pharaohs and Year 4545s in the B/S/T make me want to do some kind of statistical analysis of how long it takes between when a super-hyped pedal breaks and when they end up being resold.
I have no doubt these are killer pedals but apparently more people bought them than really knew what they were getting into.
:idk:

:idk: happens all the time, really. :poke: There is reasons like getting the money for the rare opportunities by selling stuff that is more likely available afterwards, too. And peeps are also paying their bills in the tight spots. Both make awesome gear available in the B/S/T.

You gotta try gear before you can decide if you like it and a lot of this stuff can't be found in shops so its the nature of the beast. The thing to be interested in is the pedals you don't see often on BST (like the Gnomeratron).

though i appreciate the year4545 being in a thread as "the next big thing", it is by all means NOT the next big thing.
i think the reason there are lots of those in B/S/T is because it is a pretty over the top pedal that has very specific sounds - which are pretty gnarly. maybe i should refine the info about it on my website?

it also depends on how many are out there. the more pedals you build, the more you'll see for trade/sale as people's tastes chnage, etc. - especially if it's a very specific pedal and not a boost or something like that.

probably the next big thing will be a big muff. it usually is. :thumb:

TB used to almost have a muff of the month. Plus, at least the 4545 is actually cool.

I think this sums it up best.

The race for a Timeline will be fuckin' nuts when it's available, lots and lots of chatter about that one. Numbskulls over on TGP already throwing up product reviews based on NAMM demos (idiots!).

Me too! I've got a Fuck OD and TAFM on the way, super psyched for those, but the 4545 is next on the ever growing list of "shit to get".

I'm definitely going to get my hands on the Timeline. I'll wait for the rioting to clear though.

The Timeline looks great, more than I would need but I still would love to review one eventually. If I only I could get my hands on an early model/prototype that someone left in a bar, my blog would take off! It'd be like the iPhone4 all over again....

Man, I can't wait to get one, already sold off a bunch of shit to fund it, then got impatient and ordered a bunch of new shit, seems to be how it goes for me. I'll take a crack at getting one early on but if everything works out as planned, I'll just win #0001 in the Strymon Timeline Giveaway.

Oh, it's definitely overkill, I'm used to a Malekko E600 dark and bright, but I needs it regardless!! We'll see if I utilize all the fancy features or just get lazy as usual and pick of few settings and go with it.

I think it might be great in the way that you can try out tons of different delay types and see which ones you dig, rather than buying a ton of different delays :idk:

I think I'll be good with my Frequency Central Atomic Clock, the wait is already killing me though and I only ordered it two days ago

6-8 weeks to go

I've already seen a fair number of Pharoah's coming up for sale. The used for sale prices are still fairly high....but I am betting we will see the used prices on Pharaohs come down quite a bit within a few months.
