muffs, what is best for what?

I see so much posted here and other forums about which muff variation is best, green muff, rams head, triangle, etc and even then it seems that there are people saying that there are sub variations and of these which are better than others. I want to cut through the crap and know what should I look for if I want to cut through the rest of the band and I'm playing through a balls out 15watt combo with single coils with mainly dirty playing using a boost to cut through for the limited solos I play.

that sounds cool but who makes it and where can I hear sound clips?
I should add that the type of sounds we make are more Dinosaur JR, Teenage Fanclub, Neil Young & 90s Sub Pop

Pharaoh, 4 knob Hoof, Musket. Those are my favorite, in that order, as long as it's not Vox style amp. All of 'em sound huge and cut better than a standard muff. Also built and priced very well.
There's a ton I've never tried that look awesome, long list...

fuck em. get a regular NYC and play it loud. throw a rat in front and play it louder. anything else and 90's subpop will think you're a rolling fog.

For the Neil Young sound, you dont want a Muff.
You need one of those:
Catalinbread - Formula no.5
Durham Electronics Crazy Horse Fuzz
Love pedal - Les Lius
For a Muff look for:
Blackout Effector - Musket
Dwarfcraft Devices - Eau Claire Thunder or Babu Thundaa

If you had a bigger amp I'd say NYC Big Muff would be sufficient.
If a bigger amp is out of the question you'll want something with some Mids:
Supercollider>Pharaoh>Hoof

Anything with a Mids knob/switch/feature will be helpfull. Triangle clone with flat mids switch maybe?

Ronsound Hairpie 75 with mids-switch is something of an unsung hero, IMO.
