What sort of EQ do you want? Here's a site that has some schematics for passive and active EQs:

What's the pedal? It might already have eq bands in it set to fixed values. Very common for modern distortion pedal circuits. You can tweak the resistor values or sub in a potentiometer to change the sound.

Best way to make a distortion pedal sound better: Get rid of the god damn filters.

Well I wanted to know for future projects. Nothing specific right now. Just want to understand how it works.
