Give my JCA20H some balls please...

So I'm looking around for a distortion pedal for my Jet City 20 that will give me a great Metalcore* sound.
I have two 212 cabs to let you all know so it won't be going through some little 112...I'm playing for my schools graduation

I NEED SOME Br00TZ!
Metalcore*-
Parkway Drive, Architects, Asking Alexandria, Motionless in White, Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, etc.

That is so bad ass...but I need something that is a little on the cheep.
I was thinking: Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Mayhem at most, the Blackstar HT-DISTX seems crazy as hell,
or a pocket/nano metal muff (I have the big one but it has died...trying to revive it as we speak)

Yah, it is a bit expensive. You could always default to a Boss Metalcore, they're actually pretty good. Or a Hardwire Metal distortion, here's a video, I catually like the sound a lot adn have a Hardwire Tube Overdrive and the constructio is flawless interms of build functionality and ease of use.

Get a modded proco rat (I think you can find them for less than 100$ used), esp if one is modded for tighter low end. It'll sound killer through a jet city and will bring the mosh.
Check out this rat through a sunn model t (totally clean amp):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MD2QjTFWvAThe video shows a more doomy sound, but you can adjust the filter and distortion and get it very tight and crunchy for the type of sound you want. It's also the pedal entombed and sunn o))) use, though again I know those bands have more of a doomy sound.
Other options: finding a used Catalinbread SCOD or Blackout Effectors Mantra. These can go anywhere between 110-140$ used though, so maybe its out of your price range.
The kind of bands you listen to though prob all use amp distortion, I'm guessing amps like the 5150 or Mesa Triple Rec.

Barber Dirty Bomb!
Just got one it is friggen sweet.
It does the metal stuff and makes all the dime style squeels you could want (better than the dime tribute)
Also It has enough clarity to do Riffs and single Line type stuff with the same settings.
Internal bass control so you can dial in extra thump if you need it.
I ran it in front of My Valve Jr. and it sounded huge.

Radial ToneBone Hot British or Plexitube?
For Br00talz though, what's wrong with a good old green russian muff/Hoof ?

If it's a one time gig, I'd rent an amp more geared for your style.
If not, I'd sell yours and then buy an amp more geared for your style.

I tried playing with my amp getting banged by a friend's Maxon OD808 and the result was pretty awesome.
Still on the lookout for a good OD... I don't think I really NEED an actual distortion pedal.

I think because it has the word Screamer in the name: Metal core is all about the perception of heavy.
Those Jet City amps are supposed to sound like a bargain soldano I would think that thing can get pretty nasty on it's own.

Yeah a tubescreamer pushing an already overdrive/distorted amp makes perfect sense to me.
On a useless sidenote: the label "metalcore" has changed so much over the last twenty years.

Perhaps I am not fully understanding what "Metalcore" is. My apologies to any ILFers who I have offended.

I normally dislike pedals like this, but this one sounds killer!
