so i'm a little unhappy with most of the verbs on my L6 M9. they're ok, but i want something more, preferably "boutique". i play alot of ambient stuff so it's gotta be in that range, but i like versatility as well. i also have my amps reverb, but it's not footswitchable and is kinda limited. any suggestions would be AWESOME.

Even though it's not "Boutique" the EHX Holy Grail, would be one to check out or the Plush good reverberations. What's your price range?

don't really have a set price range. i've been working a ton and i have a few textbooks to sell, and tax returns coming soon, so i'm gonna have some extra cash. i do have a book to replace, but other than that i'm gonna have a decent price range for this purchase.

I have a EHX Nano Holy Grail that I like alot, it's $120 new, the Plush is $250. And if money is no object, you could try and find a vintage Fender Tube Reverb Tank!

What's more ambient than space?!?!?

Dr. Scientist RRR is great, ton of options and a tiny footprint. Can go really subtle to wildly extreme, rotary setting is a cool bonus as well. It will definitely do ambient.

No spring setting though...

In my opinion, the best 3 reverbs out there at the moment:
Dr Scientist RRR
Strymon BSR
Eventide Space

There's a ton of great reverbs you could buy (Malekko Spring Chicken, WET, EQD Ghost Echo, Hardwire, Boss RV2, etc, etc). Some of those can do one thing at a high level of awesomeness, but if money is not an issue I would go with the best! Those first 3 can do many things as good as, if not better than, almost anything out there.

the Earthquaker Devices Ghost Echo is pretty much always on for me, but it's more an ambiance generator than a traditional reverb.

the new TC Electronic Hall of Fame looks really versatile.

I really want to try the Hall of Fame super bad. Sounds great from the clips I've heard.

I have a Hall of Fame incoming; I'll post my thoughts in here after I get it.

Best sounding = Wet or Strymon. I prefer the wet. My bandmate has the strymon and even he says the Wet sounds better. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Versatility = RRR, TC Hall of Fame, or the Tech 21 RVB Boost. I think the RVB boost is really underrated!

If you need reverse, then look into racks. You also have the option of the Cathedral, but it seems like most folks aren't a huge fan of it. Another option would be the hardwire RV-7.

Unless you have 400$+, then I'd get the eventide space which would end all your reverb needs :D

What "sound" are you primarily going to need it for?

I think the cathedral is awesome. The only thing I've ever heard is that it's a bit harsh in the top end of it. I would argue against that any day of the week.

I agree, cathedral is cool (friend of mine has one). I have an RRR on the way though, can't wait :yay:
