The MKII thread

So I've always been really hesitant to try these more "vintage" fuzzes. I don't know, I hate the "mojo" and bullshit prices that surround them. And the  mentality. And I kinda laugh at the idea of chasing a specific sound from so many years ago and using garage band to record it. I recently got a BYOC MKII Tonebender from some dude off of HC for like $45 shipped. A friend wanted me to pick one up for him, so I figured this would be a nice way to hook him up. And also a convenient way to try a new fuzz box.

Anyways, this one isn't filled with vintage mojo or anything... But it kicks some serious ass. Has a TON of gain (compared to fuzz faces and muffs), is really clear considering the gain, reasonably thick and cuts like Hanzo steel. :success:

With all that said, what are your MKII loves? Also, what are some good boxes for the money? I'm kinda kicking myself now for not jumping on that Tone Reaper for $85. :grumpy:

Oh and in before devnulljp starts posting his "Outdated + Overpriced" boxes.

Monsterpiece makes some really good MK stuff that can be found used for under $100. I just recently had one of his MKII's and I've also had a Tone Reaper both were really good but I liked the Monsterpiece a little more.

Tone Reaper's a MkIII, not a MkII.
I have a Sonic VI MkII, which wasn't really expensive, and it's awesome.
(As well as a couple of the mojo bullshit Outdated + Overpriced ones, which are aweseomer :yay: )

Basic Audio? John's a good guy, and his stuff is really good. Flies under the radar, and I don't know why. Definitely a contender, along with Ian Sherwen/Ghost in the UK. Either one of those guys will build you something utterly awesome.

They aren't listed, though I'm sure he'd whip one up...he already does MKI's/III's

The whole box stuffing process has me in pieces...so much fuzz, so few boxes to stuff

Ian would hook it up nice I bet. He's definitely told me to hit him up if I ever needed anything specific. Seems like he's more than game to do customs. And you know they'd be nice but affordable.

Doesn't the BYOC MKII have some NOS OC75's? Thats pretty mojo. The BYOC MKII is next on my list for a fuzz
