I posted in DIY cause thats where the builders are. really no point in having this in B/S/T.

I've been looking at colored knobs to match the arcade buttons I ordered. bright colors you know. the problem is that I would have to order like 1000 or even 10000 knobs to get them made in a color of my choice, multiply that by 6 and its just not happening. so I figure we just order white and i can do my own thing with the special plastic dyes. then its just 1000 white knobs divided among us. I know about mammoth and it is just not cheap enough. they dont have the colors I want in the knob style that I want.

so I propose we order these white knobs similar to the mammoth pic below. the knobs I would like to order are 25mm wide x 16mm high and 6mm spline/knurled shaft. also looking at 20x16x6mm. no set screw. I hate set screws. set screws actually damage the split shaft pots I use. I'll post a link to tayda if you want to look at pots that are compatible. I haven't asked for a price quote or min order yet. I just want to see who is interested first.

P.S. or we could just order the knobs in colors from china. thats still an option.

I'd been in for a couple hundred at least if you went with set screws. I just don't think enough people build with spline shafts to make the group order workable, but for your sake I hope I'm wrong.

where do you get your pots? do you use D shaft alpha pots? BTW spline shaft fits most guitars so thats a plus.

tayda kinda has me sold on free pot condoms, good price, and spline shaft saves time.

I don't ever use the split shaft, but will agree set screws mess them up. Don't really like push on knobs.

I usually get round-shaft pots from Mouser. They cost more for buying less than 10, but the quality is good:

Those appear to have a longer shaft than the "standard" size most effects suppliers sell, but they're actually exactly the same size.

yeah its a tough decision for me to pay twice as much for something thats the same except for the shaft.

The Tayda pots are generally okay, but I've had a few crap on me. They're pretty damn cheap all around.

Its still an alpha rv16 as far as i know. Mouser has them in pc vs solder lug and all sorts of shafts, it is possible to get the same pot from mouser minus the condom

the set screw knobs still work on the tayda pots, what sort of price will they be?

I havent made any inquiries about price yet but I assume they will be half the price of anything in the usa if not cheaper.

I found a supplier with no minimum order but its still a wire transfer and 3 week wait.
