Lets have a look at the Boss FZ-2 and FZ-3

Post by Kayzer »

Since i am in a fuzzy mood lately i was looking into those two semi old school boss fuzz pedals. I dont like the idea of digital fuzz from the FZ-5 so i just got the FZ-2 and FZ-3 for a little demo session...

The FZ-2 has some cool and also very extreme sounds inside, its like a fuzz version of the boss metal zone which is quiet weird but also cool!

The FZ-3 is more straight forward compared to the FZ-2 but doesent offer alot sounds but it does the fuzz thing quiet good!

All in all they are fun to play but i wouldnt spent more than 100 bucks for both...

Now I want an FZ-2... that's what Electric Wizard used, right?
I want a giant bunny and I want a bunch of regular bunnies and they will form a hive mind and the giant bunny will be the queen bunny and they will attack in swarms.

The FZ2 super fuzz modes are great, but my favorite mode on it is the gain/boost mode. GREAT clean boost.
Yet to try an FZ3, but yeah the FZ5 was horrible. COSM FTL.

Yeah my brother has an FZ-2 and it's quite awesome!

Jeff Buckley used one. You can hear it throughout his live recordings.

can anybody explain to me why there is no FZ-1 and FZ-4?! looks always strange to me about the boss pedals, there is also no PS-1 and PS-4 so i guess 1 and 4 are doomed, cursed or bad numbers in japan?! Whats the deal?

I am curious about that too, maybe that's why the DS-1 is doomed

Boss decided early in their pedal development that 1 sounded like it didn't have enough features so they put a 2 suffix on everything, and 4 is an unlucky number in Japan.

My wife gave me a History of Boss book for my birthday one year.

Great demos....... as usual. I've been wanting to get my hands on these two, and you just caused me to GAS even harder so I can try them out.
