sorry for how often reverb topics pop up but i'm just torn on which reverb to buy. i'm trying to get a good shoegaze reverb to use with fuzz, i've got a holy grail but i find it doesn't work so well with a lot of fuzz. I'm looking at the cathedral?? i haven't read very many good things about it. I'm also considering the boss rv-3 but i'm kinda weird about buying used pedals on ebay and such, and i'm considering it but don't really want to spend 500 on an eventide space. so what do you guys think? any cathedral users have an opinion?

You looking for JAMC or MBV style gazing?
Either way I'd check out the Hardwire RV7. All the settings on it are good or better and they can be had for pretty cheap, that way you can find which type of reverb you want to drop some real scratch on.
If you know you won't do the JAMC surf-gazy-ness too much, the good Dr. Scientist's reverb is all kinds of wonderful.

I've always wanted a huge reverb, really cavernous. Like near-infinite reverb. I know the Cathedral can do infinite but are there other options that are hopefully smaller and not crazy expensive? Would the RV-5 or Hardwire be able to accomplish this?

The hardwire's get pretty big, but not huge...never tried an RV5.

Believe it or not the Tech 21 Boost RVB is amazing!
You can get the older version black one without "trails" for around $100 on theBAY.

I love my big box RRR, goes real subtle or all out cavernous. Also handles dirt and fuzz with ease, which is a must. The mini is even cooler, smaller the better! $500 on the Space is ludicrous, I just couldn't justify that on a verb...or any pedal really...ok, maybe the Timeline.

for the stuff you wanna do, are you sure it isn't a proper delay that you are looking for? i have a cathedral and it depends on the fuzz you use - some sound tinny through reverb and others sound warmer. the reverse-reverb and freeze functions on the cathedral are great for gazey stuff, but -sometimes- it's delay that can really mesh chords together. reverse, or "rising" delay might be what you're looking for. i think you can easily find that in the memory man series (definitely the smmh).

Small, affordable, stereo, lots of options . . .
I usually use Cave with a short delay and about 85% wet, tone and decay at about noon (so big), but also like the octave and delay (for layers). My HotRod's spring is always on 3.

I really want to try the RRR, which is the only thing I've seen that might ever replace it.
I also love the Space Echo pedal, but that's a different thing.
The Hardwire is nice, too.

I think the strymon bluesky reverberator sounds amazing from the demos I've watched. Anyone here played one?

If you want reverb fast and cheap, and just want it to do reverb-y sounds and not anything crazy, the Behringer Digital Reverb pedal is cheap and decent.

I love my amp's spring reverb 10x as much though. But I do use the Behringer's hall reverb with max time and wet mix to create sort of a "blooming" note effect.

thumbs up for the EQD ghost echo, although it is a rather conservative 'verb
