Pedalboard recommendations?

Post by CBGB »

I need one, I don't want to spend more than 150 dollars if I can help it, what do you recommend?

Previously I wouldn't have recommended them. I have their Lyt 24 board and while it's really nice, the bag option that they had previously was gigantic and really hard to carry around. They recently unveiled bags that fit all of their boards, and they look really nice. I ordered a bag for my old board, so we'll see how they compare. But for the price, you can't go wrong with a Lyt board now.

Rondomusic.com has some cheap and massive pedal cases, I wouldn't run them over with your car but if you just need a cheap place to put your pedals they are pretty cool.

I replaced the bottom of mine with carpet but other than that have had no issues.

Pedal Train PT-2 soft case it's $120 and comes with velcro and twist ties and mounting brackets for a DC Brick. I have one adn love it, it holds ten standard boss size pedals. Some of the Gator pedalboards are also nice.

NYC pedalboards. I can't be anymore happy with my purchase. Great people to deal with. Phenomenal quality boards. Super easy to travel with.

Dude,
The NYC Boards look nice but I need one that will hold way more pedals, wonder how much a custom order would cost?

Also: If you have access to a home depot you can get handles wood (pre cut if needed) velcro and Paint and build very solid DIY boards.

I use an old CD case that used to be for DJs who traveled. Ripped out the dividers, put a foam brick in the big cavity, put my pedals on the lid.
Not the cleanest and most professional looking board, but it beats paying $100 bucks and is fairly large. & it's covered in that black felt stuff so velcro is easy.

Then again I'm not sure how easy it is to find one of those cases. I =

You can use anything!
worst i have ever had was an old dresser drawer
I flipped it upside down so I could run all the power supplies underneath.
It worked but it looked pretty rotten, plus I used tape to hold down all the pedals.
What a mess!

really want to build my own wedge style

I've DIYed two Home Depot pedalboards at this point, one for me and one for my brother:

Mine is 1/2" MDF with velcro carpet (soft loop side) from http://www.stompin-ground.com/products/sghl.htm and 3/4" angle iron all around the edge. I think there's 8 furniture feet underneath. Total cost something like $35 because I got the fancy stompin-ground velcro carpet. (Really needs to be cleaned up in this picture)

My brother's. Also made from 1/2" MDF. Sized to make a Pedaltrain JR, if he ever wants to get a soft case or flight case or whatever.

Total cost: Free, because I had everything leftover from my own pedalboard :-)
