Buzzaround is kinda Muff-like.
Buzzy 60s? Fuzzrite or FZ-1?
Creepy Fingers does a great modified FZ-1A clone with switchable output caps for more mids/bass/normal. I had him mod one of my old FZ-1As and it's great.
I like the Ge Fuzzrite better than the Si/Sprague, but YMMV
Superfuzz can also get buzzy/60s/garagey depending on how you use it.
Vox Tone Bender (the 2-trannie one, not the 3-trannie Sola Sound TB MkI/II/III etc.) is real top endy, buzzy (Doors / Stooges used em)
Here's some fuzzrites

Sam Ash fuzz shouldn't be buzzy -- was it broken?

The fuzzstang is a sam ash fuzz stainer clone, which is supposed to be a different circuit.
I don't think there are any schems on the net, I'm sure the fuzzstang guy is keeping hush hush about it
Though I guess someone could just reverse one of the fuzzstangs.

Oh, this one? You're right. Sorry, I was thinking of the Astrotone (which is low gain and pretty smooth).

There's a schem here:
http://freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4622Hey, another option for 60s buzzy fuzz: How about an Orpheum? I used to have an awesome Andre Fuzzier, which is an Orpheum with a tone control. Similar to a Fuzzrite, but less compressed and more crackly. Fantastic sounding thing.

So many choices. Time to start researching.
This all came to a head when i was listening to The Black Angels and said 'i want that fucking tone!'
I looked his up, it's a maestro.

The CF Fuzz Nugget is really good. He modded one of my broken 60s FZ-1As to the same kinda specs (although the old trannies in that one are lower gain). Sounds great.
I looked though and those guys have a lot of vintage gear -- found some pics of his board and there's a Fuzz Face, Muff, Interstellar Overdriver as well as an FZ-1(A? can't tell from the pic).
But that real buzzy tone sure sounds like the Maestro.
Jim Roth/jerms is building me an FZ-1 too w/ NOS original trannies, which should be fun
