EX-BANDS

So we know bands are kind of like marriages, but without the sex, and some of these unions don't last. The break-ups can be pretty rough too so I just wanted to ask:

Do you still talk to your old band mates?

Did you guys end on good terms?

Anyone ever get back together?

For me there's been some rocky relationships. The singer in one ex-band was a total douche-tool-jerk-bag and I left cause I hated him (everyone left for that reason actually) so I could care less if I see him again. One of my others bands was cool, just not my kind of thing (the singer's style kind of got on my nerves). I miss hanging out with the guys though, all of whom were pretty funny, but I'm in no hurry to jam again. I see the drummer from time to time and we'll have some beers.

Anyway just thought I'd ask. :idk:

Yah, we still talk. One of teh guys froma n old band is always on me to record our old stuff since he doesn't feel comfortable making a new badn with out recording our old stuff, I've already started a new badn and we've already played a show, and I'm organizing another one with a friend. I was in a band for about a month or two and I rarely talk to those guys becuase we were never friends to begin with, so that ones easy.

The most recent break up was probably the only one that was rough. Bassist and I got in an argument once and he held a grudge against me for a long time. I tried squashing it, but I guess I really hit a nerve and he decided he was going to stop once we got done selling records. Then he started holding everything back since he didn't want to get more merch so we just called it a day. None of us talk really, but when we see each other it's cool. We didn't talk from the get go really. Drummer and I might do something again soon.

When I think about it, we didn't really know each other or understand each other enough...and once we realized that, rather than try and adjust we were all pretty stubborn and just kept on. The music was fun, but playing with people who aren't close friends can make things difficult if you're stubborn.

Waaaaaaay too many band break ups to go into all of them  . But yeah, my most recent band's break up was kind of shitty. My drummer had/has a pretty obvious coke problem and pretty much distanced himself more and more from the band over time until he finally just stopped contacting us and we couldn't reach him :( . The bassist told us he didn't want to keep playing without the drummer, then like a month later we caught him using our practice space as a "recording studio" for other bands (we stupidly forgot to get his keys back  ). Essentially he was making money off of our space without paying rent, then proceeded to verbally assault us for awhile, which is cool. The other guitarist is now my drummer and I've been in bands with him since I was 15 and we've maintained a solid friendship all the while. We should've made a soap opera out of that band, minus the love triangles and murder.

Do you still talk to your old band mates?
Yes, some of them are my best friends.

Did you guys end on good terms?
Yes, my old drummer wanted to start his own band with his own songs, which I understood completely being a song writer myself.

Anyone ever get back together?
I actually played noisy lead guitar in his new band at two shows of his.

I'll be the odd man out and say that I tend to get asked to leave bands.
Never on bad terms, it just seems to go that way for some reason.
I'm still awkward friends with all my old bandmates.

I'm still mostly friends with my ex-bandmates. Trying to think of any that I'm not... there are a couple with awkward dynamics, but for the most part it's all good.

I'm in a band with my old drummer at the moment. I'm glad because we hadn't really hung out since our old band broke up. But neither of us talk to our old guitarist, he's sort of lost his mind or something...

Do you still talk to your old band mates?
Sure. Some of the guys and the girls are my best friends. There's true and tried friendship plus the shared and well-kept secrets ;) that make lasting bonds between some of us.

Did you guys end on good terms?
Not always. But between good friends - :whateva: time heals. And with the rest of them I am in terms. Except for those that, well, can go hang themselves and the fuck should I care? Hard to part in good terms with people who put up a drug- powered, furious fight and take up a fucking fire axe. For real.

Anyone ever get back together?
...when ever a new side project is spawned, the usual things happen: people who know people ask people in bands and ask if they know people. So there's always one or two guys I know from previous bands I've been in. And every now and then, I've made guest appearances on stage or on studio. And write lyrics for them when ever asked. And I used to do sounds and/or the light show for Saunabadh every now and then. That's networking, supposed to keep You connected and put a smile on Your face if nothing else comes from it.
