For money Doepfer... For awesomeness Cyndustries Zero Oscillator...

I have the Malekko Wiard Anti-Oscillator and the Bubblesound uLFO. they're both a bit more $ than the Doepfer but not too much.

the uLFO in particular is really great. lots of different waves and modulation options. it has a really wide frequency range - it's a great LFO, but also covers the audible range well.

the Anti-Oscillator is a little weirder. I like it better when paired with something a little more standard.

also in the same price range: a lot of people like the Tiptop a lot, and the Malekko Wiard Oscillator seems pretty awesome.

I know! I start reading stuff like this and listening, and I'm like... Do I really want to even peak down this rabbit hole!?

After collecting several noisemakers, I'll play guitar for a bit, and before you know it I'm on my knees and my guitar is on it's stand, which led me to think I wanted to build my own modular synthesizer. I need sponsorship!

Sorry for the thread hijack but there's something I've been wondering..

Do you nee dto hook these things up to an amp? And I assume they can be connected to fx pedals.
Is it possible to make some droney/shoegazey soundscapes with these things? I'm kinda new to this.

What I'm looking for is some sort of hardware controller connected to all my pedals to alter the sound real time. Not sure if I'm making myself clear..

An oscillator (osc) is what makes the noise and a low frequency oscillator (lfo) is what can be used to control your sounds... The osc's mentioned above can be used with amps and guitar effects like Jero said but you can't use them to control your hardware pedals or effects unless they have a controlled voltage (cv) input... Holla if you needs some help...

I have a Grendel Drone Commander http://ericarcher.net/devices/drone-commander/ it has a 1/4 out to amp and then on the side it has two 1/4 jacks one is labeled "Filter CV-In" and the other "Clock-Out". What are the uses of these? What kind of stuff would I plug into/out of them? This thing is awesome without using them so I imagine it can only be enhanced by their addition. Any thoughts?

The GDC is Awesome... Eric lives here in Austin and I've played those... The filter CV IN will let you input a CV from another source like a LFO or a noise source... It will modulate the filter depending on how it's set up... The Clock Out can control other things that have a CV Input, it's like analog midi timing... You could sync the Clock out to one of his other little drum toys and go DRONE CRAZY...

I wish I hadn't clicked on that link, I really want one of those now but I don't think it would be wise for me to put that much more strain on my credit card. Oh well, someday I'll get something like that.
