Any of you using the 3Xfx Fatman V1 (not the V2)?
Is it good for high gain... heavy stuff?

I have a Wampler Triple Recstortion for my high gain need and it's not really what I'm looking for.
I also have the Blackout Effector Musket V2, so I'm not looking for a muff type.

Any though?

can you please clarify a bit? there are two different boxes: one is the Fatman; the other is the V1 Buzz Bomb.

to which are you referring?

I'm interested in both... the Fatman (with the tone knob) and the Buzz Bomb...
But here I'm talking about the Fatman (the smaller one with the tone knob).

OK, i just wanted to be sure i didn't waste your time writing about one if you were interested in the other.

i have a Fatman, one of the custom colored units which i got from Tom at FuzzHugger. i use it as a mid-gain OD to get the feel of an angry British amp stack cranked up, sort of the way folks use e.g. a Catalinbread WIIO. "mid-gain" here refers to what it sounds like to my ears, and means between 2 and 3 on the dial out of a range from 0 to 7. i don't wind it up much beyond that because it's rather noisy, possibly because of its design which appears to use two cascaded op amps. it sounds best between 2 and 4. once you get the gain up past 5 it doesn't really get more distorted per se, but the harmonic content gets more dissonant and synth-y.

Thanks :thumb:
Not what I'm looking for in this case.
Will probably get the Buzz Bomb later... I want to try the photocell thing.

Fatman = Best controlled feedback evvvvvvvveeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr...

Mostly high gain stuff. Very industrial sounding. But jebus fucking christ, the god damn feedback control is amazing on the bugger. Although this was the old version, not sure how the new one is different. Should have kept it. Alas!
