Can I get your opinion on a fuzztone ?

Just a fuzz I'm working on. All the guitar tracks were recorded with the fuzztone. Pretty variable, but I'm still dialing it in.

Not sure what kind of feedback you're looking for. In order to judge it we will need something to compare it too. What sounds are you going for?

How do you figure? You can't simply listen and say "OH SNAP, that sounds good"?

...which it does indeed sound good. My kind of fuzz no doubt. It looks like you're in Atx drgnfy, we should meet up some time.

given what i can hear, i like the overall sound. it sounds like it breaks up more in the top end than in the bottom; is that intentional? it's hard to be specific because it sounds like the guitar tracks were processed during or post-recording and i don't know whether, e.g., the apparent treble cut or compression are recording artifacts or characteristics of the fuzz. if we're going to get all epistemological, it sounds more like "distortion" to me than "fuzz."

Cool - it's just something I'm still tweaking. The tracks are completely dry, and recorded direct...no amp or amp simulation. I'm not a hundred percent happy with it yet, but I like the basic tone and tweakability of it. When I get it done I'll probably just post the schematic in the DIY section so whoever wants to build it can.

Dubkitty - yeah, it can definitely get "distortion-like" at some settings, and the top end definitely fuzzes out more than the low...good ear. Really just depends on the settings involved.

Any of you guys that are from Austin - PM me - it would be cool to grab a beer or something. I have a pretty heavy gig schedule this month, but maybe something would work.
