Frazz Dazzler - VOlume

hi

i traded a red Frazz Dazzler with gate switch for The Great Destroyer... thanks, Jwar
today i tried it with our band... first of all
FUCK that's heavy!!!!
second of all... i have to keep Sizzle on max, because otherwise it seems to dark and muffled
but the main reason why i'm posting this - Volume. Is it normal that my unity volume is with Volume on max?

I'm a few months into Frazz Dazzler world and have exactly two thoughts:
1. I also run sizzle maxed most of the time. I can turn it a bit down if I'm running my amp really hot, but with a cleaner amp, it's max all day.
2. Where on volume knob I find unity changes depending on where I have mix set. I stack my Frazz with various ODs and boosters so, I'm constantly changing the volume setting for unity.
2.5: I have a blue one. is red higher in badassery index?

hi
i run it with Mix maxed, i have yet to find a use for clean blends... Sizzle maxed, Volume maxed, Mix maxed... only gain is right before noon... looks silly

hey, red is awesome, i love it and it matches my red Cbread DLS right next to it

but i saw pictures of a blue one and those are beautiful, too!
oh and the weird thing is that even if it was made for bringing the heavy for powerchords and such, i like it better for solos than my fuzz factory clone -.-

It's weird how people use that pedal differently.. I feel it's super loud and really bright, I rarely put the sizzle past noon. I use a 100W tube amp set totally clean and with the Frazz set fully wet unity gain is with the pedal volume around 9 or 10 o'clock. After that it's all boost and it can make my amp super loud.
It depends on the headroom available in your amp though.. if your preamp is saturated you won't have any room for the Frazz to make it louder. My 100W amp has a dirty channel too.. when I have the gain dimed on my distortion channel and kick on the Frazz, the Frazz only adds more saturation, it can't make the amp any louder.
So I don't know if something is wrong with your Frazz or if it's all working normally... that's the same red Frazz that Blurillaz used to have though, right? It had something inside it on the pcb that was touching the side of the box and killing the output.. maybe that's happening again. Shoot me an email,
ryan@drscientist.ca, and we can make arrangements for me to have a look at it.

You just have to get used it.
It's an odd, but fucking awesome pedal.

Haha yeah.. it doesn't help that I've goofed around with parts values a lot with them over the years either, just fine tuning them, but I do feel like it's a super loud pedal. The output is driven by a 1 watt audio amp.. if your amp has the headroom it'll definitely get loud. Well, unless it's screwed up inside like that weird old red one...

Hahaha. If I have mine at one third it gets... loud. My band yells at me.
It's a louuuddd pedal.

a frazz needs headroom!
I used to have my blues junior naturally overdriven and I needed the frazz' volumen maxed to reach normal levels…
now I play with the amp clean (took me some time to discover that) and the frazz' volumen at noon and it's loud enough!
the "loudness feeling" changes also depending on where the sizzle knob is: high treble sounds seem always louder
(I like the sizzle at 75%, thou I also like using it at 0 together with a treble booster to get nice synthy sounds)

i use it with totally clean EL84 amp
Ryan, you are nice, but i'm in europe... i can't imagine sending it to you

pain in the ass
don't know if it's the old one Blurillaz had, i got it from jwar... but on the inside it says "frazz dazzle #122 for B-Man!" so it could be it... whatever, i don't mind it as far as i can get unity volume

(or is it a bit more? )
about the brightness - it probably reacts differently with different gear (oh gee, no way

) i was surprised, because i have a tele... whatever
oh, something just came to my mind... can it cause any problems if it's not first in the signal path? i put it after a few effects... because i wanted to have it near my DLS and after wah (because it doesn't oscillate)

DA, if you want to send me that pedal to look at I don't mind at all and I'll cover the return shipping for you. It'll only be 15ish bucks each way plus a bit of time, but it's no sweat for me to tune that up for you. You can show me a pic of the insides too if you like, maybe we'll see something obvious and save you the trouble.
The Frazz doesn't care if it's not first in the signal chain, it has a buffered input and is happy anywhere.

That's weird, it seems to be brighter and probably louder when put first in the signal chain
If i'll experience any problems, i'll keep your offer in mind

for now i'll experiment with putting it first
edit: nope, false alarm

Haha yeah that's the one, what an infamous Frazz! I'm gonna fix it up for DA though, it'll be loud as hell in no time!
