This guy is making BJF designs like a few blocks from where I live and I've always wanted one of these its super great sounding.

Cool! I saw a thread on TGP about these. While they still aren't cheap, its nice to see them at a more attainable price point. I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to get confused with all the different BJF lines. I think its now up to four: BJFe, Bearfoot, Mad Professor Handwired and Mad Professor CB.

Would you classify this as low or mid gain? I read on TGP it has more gain than a BJFE Honey Bee, but I am wondering if this provides more of a
- clean boost
- transparency
- or can serve as a standalone OD pedal

Its a really dynamic overdrive so it doesn't really distort unless your really dig in when playing. The tone knob has a good bass sweep to it and it sits really well after the fuzzies i have tried it with so far. For me since I set my amps clean i kinda use this as if I was using a slightly dirty amp and running a fuzz into it.

i think bjfe is just crazy shit. i have a baby blue and like it in my one band with two guitars. in combination it sounds very good - but not all that "shit your pants, take the shit out, smear it in your face and scream to your wife Björn Juhl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"-good. alone it sounds not like a really great pedal though.
a friend of mine is selling his baby blue right now an ebay. i think it will go for 600$.

i personally would not pay more than 200$ for one of these... even 200$ is so much moneyz...

Well the guy that building them live super close to me so it was kinda cool meeting the guy in person. I'm sure it will hold value pretty well also.

gasp! pcb and no goop

it must sound like crap

but seriously, nice to have that sound available at a lower price point
I had two honey bees at one point, but sold them because it wasn't my 'sound' (though they were great) and they were too expensive
hope he does the mini vibe

Oh these are made by Donner aren't they? I did a quick round of the google game and that's what I came up with. Definitely legit if that's the case.

How are the internals. I've heard that they are a bit of a mess inside. That always worries me a bit.

I really hated mine.

Didn't sound at all like either of the BJFE Honey Bees I tried, kind of fizzy, didn't have the "give" of the BJFEs. Purely my opinion, of course; I imagine some folks will really dig them - I hope you're one of them!

I really don't think any "messiness" (and I've seen that photo) is a cause for concern - doesn't look to me like it could contribute to component failure.

I don't really notice the fizzyness. As far as the spaghetti wiring on the inside afaik this was an attempt to recreate the pedal the way BJF makes it even if the neatness could be cleaned up.
