Power Supply Recommendation

Hey guys I have like 8 pedals on my board and I'm powering them all on a OneSpot adapter and I think it's time I upgrade to a nice power supply. I have a Pedaltrain so I'm looking for one that I can mount underneath my board.

I'm not really sure what to get. I don't really know which ones are better than others. It seems that the Voodoo Labs PP2 is pretty much the standard. Are there any better ones I should check out that are in the same price range?

I would like some sag controls for some of my fuzz pedals. I'm not really sure about anything other than that.

Thanks!

The PP2+ is top notch. If you successfully run 8 pedals off a OneSpot, then it will definitely do everything you need and more. I use two of them and they're superb, no complaints at all. Obviously, research all your pedals and their power consumption and plan ahead but I think it's the best out there for the $$.

The Fuel Tank seems nice too, haven't really checked it out that thoroughly but the DC Brick is shit, avoid that one, basically an overpriced OneSpot, no isolation at all.

Well my setup works with the onespot but I know it would be better with a nice power supply.

It's getting a little noisey with the onespot.

I second the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. I've had mine for over a decade and have NEVER EVER had a problem with it. So yeah, if you're going to drop some cash on a power supply, get that... you don't want fried pedals or dying power supplies. Come to think of it, I've never even heard a second-hand complaint about the Pedal Power.

Mine is PP2 (before the "plus"), and it powers Line 6 pedals and has two sag controls.

A great purchase.

I've heard great things about the PP2+. It's basically the standard. I would also suggest the BBE Supa Charger, which is what I use. It has a couple fewer features (no sag control or courtesy outlet), but you can find it used for much cheaper than the PP2+ if you are patient.

How do the Trex Fuel Tank and Modtone Power Plant compare to the PP2+? Are they any better?

Another vote for the BBE. Snagged mine off ebay for around $100.

I don't think any one is "better" per se, just different capabilities and features. I'd pick what works best for your particular setup at a price you can live with. Just get an isolated supply, that's the most important thing when it comes to noise/hum reduction and a well behaved board.

Be aware that the regular fuel tank is just like a dc brick. The fuel tank jr is the one with isolated outputs.

As far as bbe/pp2 alternatives, the new cioks DC10 has a ton of options/features. The CAE one looks pretty cool too.

I use a PP2+. I love it.

But I agree with Gunner, the the cioks DC10 and CAE seem promising.

I just found a PP2+ used for 119$
I'm using a Carl Martin Powerjack (1670mA) right now.
I have more and more pedals... maybe I should go for that used PP2+.

Just not sure how it works?

They said:
1-4 9V 100mA
5-6 9V 250mA
7-8 9V 100mA

Is this 100mA total for 1 to 4 or it's 100mA X 4 for a total of 400mA?

Yeah I know... but it is 200$ new.
And what is worst with them... fuzz box sound better with cheap battery.

That's a great deal, I'd def jump on that!

1-4 9V/12V (dip switch on) 100mA per output
5-6 9V/Unreg(dip switch on Line 6) 250mA per output - I use these to power a POG2 at 9V and dip on for a DL4
7-8 9V/9V Sag (dip switch on) 100mA per output- there is a trim pot used to adjust voltage in Sag mode
AC outlet- use this to run any AC powered effect or something DC that the PP2+ can't run. I use it to connect my PP2+s together.

You can also use Y-cables to double output of 1-4 to 18/24V, however mA do not double, actually decrease a bit.
