After starting to drill the enclosure for the project I'm working on now - and not even getting to finish - I suspect that it may be too loud while living in an apartment with neighbours on all sides...

I like Mammoth's setup. Although I kind of wish they gave you a few more options with things like LED placement.

I had the same problem hand drilling and I used to have to come home on my lunch breaks to drill when nobody was home, but once I got a small drill press with a vice it is really quiet. It is no louder than a microwave now. You can pick them up pretty cheap online at places like harbor freight.. I got a skil drill press at home depot for around $120 bucks.

also for whatever reason the generic unibits I got from northern tool and equipment work really great. I bought the super expensive irwin unibit and it is louder and gets junked up with melted aluminum more often.

also for some reason hammond enclosures are softer and easier to drill than 4site.

I got a cheap one from AutoZone, and it's louder than the Irwin and doesn't deburr the hole as well. But I do notice that the Irwin builds up the melted aluminum. I wonder if you can sharpen unibits?

4SITE is decent hammond clones. they come primered with this grey rough surface which is pretty awesome for painting. and they are harder than hammond enclosures which sucks for drilling, but might be better for strength? and the screws that they use are pretty weak but other than that they are pretty good. I have gotten some crazy spotty hammond enclosures with voids in the aluminum too and they come with all kinds of crap on them that takes longer to prep.

I have been using 125b's for most things lately though. I used to be able to get hammond enclosures from fry's and they would price match but the dude that used to hook me up over there hasn't been working or quit, they also upped their prices so now a 1590bb is $10 the last time I tried to get a price match the manager said they only will price match advertised rates in print not online. maybe I can find a good price in a catalog and try that.

Yea, Frys up charges those hammonds, but I get them from time to time
